  • “Had this for lunch with a lovely green salad, it was enjoyed by all. I made the yorkshire (eggs etc.) and put it in the fridge to get very cold while I saute’d the meat, added chopped onions, 1 can of peas & carrots and a small tin of sliced water chestnuts I slide the meat mixture into an oven proof dish and got it very hot in the oven then I poured the egg mixture over the meat and baked it in a 400f oven for 30 minutes. It came out all puffed and golden. Excellent thanks kitinaI just want to add do not use a pyrex baking dish if you are adding the refrigerated Yorkshireeggmix to the hot hamburger mix, there is a good chance that the dish will crack.Use a metal pie plate or whatever that can take sudden hot with cold”

  • “This was a very good and simple recipe.I really love the meat pie, my kids too!!But none of us really cared for the sauce mix to top with after, I think it was to strong of the worcestershire taste for us. I used mushroom gravy and did as suggested and added a bit of ketchup to it too(for the meat mixture).I also put carrots and corn. The pie itself was delicious, I will make again! I give a 5 star b/c we loved the pie itself so much.”

  • “This is a fabulous recipe! My whole family enojoyed the tase and texture. We used a bag of frozen mixed veggies the 2nd time we made it and found it a bit more exciting than the corn we used the first time around. I can’t wait to make it for company. Thanks for posting it!!!”

  • “This is really tasty and puffed up perfectly. I added slightly more gravy to to the meat mix as well as Jan’s suggested tomatoe sauce (ketchup). Used peas and corn as the veggies.Definite make again and next time will try with mushrooms.”

  • “This is a great recipe!! I’ve made it twice now, using mushrooms instead of the veggies. Popovers and yorkshire pudding are great favorites at our house, but treats I don’t often produce because f the time and attention required to juggle bread, meat and other parts of the meal. This can do it all in one – or as I did just zap some veggies in the microwave and toss some salad while it’s baking. I can also see it dressed up with a burgundy wine sauce instead of plain gravy – it could be a real “company” dish. I was tempted to put the batter on top of the meat mix, but followed the recipe as is and think that the way it puffs around to make a crust is probably the better way.”

  • “I’ve had this in my cookbook for ages, waiting for a cold wintery night. Tonight was it!This is comfort food at its best. I made gravy (we can’t buy it canned) and added cooked carrots and peas. I also added 1/2 teaspoon mixed herbs and 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup. If you’re like me and don’t like mucking around with pastry, this is a good quick alternative.”

  • “The whole family enjoyed this.I used three eggs instead of two, which is what my yorkshire pudding recipe calls for.We have always enjoyed a similar recipe, toad in the hole, which is yorkshire pudding with cut up cooked sausages baked inside. This made a nice change.”
